Roads

Founded in 1911, Kent County Road Commission maintains 1960 miles of roads and 172 bridges within the County of Kent, exclusive of those roadways and bridges that fall under the jurisdiction of the State of Michigan, cities and villages. The Road Commission also provides routine maintenance services, including snow and ice removal, for 436 miles of state trunklines under a multi-year contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).

  • TRAFFIC/SIGNAL/SIGN
  • STREET LIGHT


Please call the KCRC office immediately at 616-242-6950 to report a FALLEN TREE that is in the traveled portion of a public road.The fallen trees will be moved outside of the road right-of-way when possible. The relocated fallen tree will be left for the property owner’s use and/or disposal.  

PERMITS & OTHER INFORMATION
A permit is required from KCRC for any and all work performed in the County road right-of-way. This includes residential and commercial driveways, sidewalks and non-motorized pathways, landscaping, utilities and oversized overweight trucking. In addition, KCRC is the designated Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control (SESC) Enforcing Agency for Kent County and the cities of East Grand Rapids, Grandville and Wyoming. An SESC permit is required for any activity within 500 feet of a lake or stream.
