Alpine Branch Library is part of the Kent District Library (KDL) System, which is supported by a County-wide millage except in areas with independent libraries, such as Grand Rapids and Sparta. For programming at any library branch in the KDL system, visit KDL's Web site or call (616) 784-2007. Those interested in participating in a Friends of the Library group are encouraged to contact the Alpine Branch Library.

Changes in Library Officials
Once again there have been some recent changes at the library; Librarian, Michelle Boisvenue-Fox had been the Acting Branch Manager that replaced Cathy Clair when she retired on June 30th.
Michelle left us on February 10th, to return to her position as Assistant Branch Manager at the library's East Grand Rapids Branch. Michelle worked hard during the time she was here to implement many changes and begin the process of updating many of the furnishings and equipment in our branch. The changes have been quite exciting and the response has been great. Fortunately, we will still be seeing Michelle around on Monday nights for a while as she will still be conducting the book groups that she had been working with.
Marcia DeMeester is the new Manager for our branch. In order to make best use of the funds available to them, the Kent District Library is always looking for new ways to manage the business and to that end, they will be using a new staffing model for our branch as well as for the Tyrone branch. Marcia will be the manager for both branches and splitting her time between the two. As both of these are smaller branches with days in which they are closed during the week, the managers would routinely work in some other branch for the day(s) they were closed. This will, hopefully, make better use of the manager's time and experience. As this is a new concept for KDL, they will be monitoring the results to ensure this works well for everyone.
Another new face at our branch belongs to Rachel McDonald. She is the new Youth Paraprofessional and she will be working 30 hours per week. Rachel previously held that position at the Wyoming branch. She is currently working on her Library Science Degree. Rachel is looking forward to working with the youth programs at this branch.
Good luck to all!
